FAQs

How much does it cost to sponsor a student?
It is £7 per month to sponsor a student who is aged between 3-16. Costs after this age usually increase slightly but you will never be asked to pay more unless you choose to. Extra school fees will be taken out of charity funds.

Will I have a named student allocated?
Yes and you will have an option to choose gender and approximate age. No student has more then one sponsor.

Will I receive information about my student?
Yes, once your first payment has been received you will be sent a photo of the student and background information on them and their immediate family.

Can I have direct contact with my sponsored student or meet them if I visit The Gambia?
Yes but we do not encourage direct contact outside of your visit and strongly recommend you do not give your address on any communication. You can send letters and gifts through us. If you would like to visit the student we can arrange this and you will be accompanied by a member of The Goal For The Gambia team.

I don’t want to sponsor a student but would like to support through regular monthly donations or a one off payment. Is this possible?
Yes we welcome any donations to support our work and you can choose where your donations go. We have a teachers salary, medical, Scouts or general donation allocations. Please contact us for further information or make a donation here

How often will I receive updates about my sponsored student?
You will receive updates once a year around September. This will include a photo, case worker update on the student and any significant news from their family, a drawing or letter from the student and a copy of their school report, where issued.

How do I set up donations?
We prefer a standing order payment, please contact us for details. If you are a UK tax payer we will also ask you to sign a gift aid declaration which enables us to collect 25% of your donations. We use this to cover any administration costs and also to pay fees for needy students who don’t have their own sponsor.
